Orderly Chaos
The design process is fraught with red herrings and dead ends. The path to the solution is never straightforward, and it is very easy to get lost in the what-ifs and maybes. However, there is a method behind the madness. Underlying the chaos, there is order, even if one may not see it in the beginning.

The shifting rotary components of our kinetic sculpture illustrate the above explained nature of the design process. Shafts rotate in response to the motion of the other through the use of gears while sliding back and forth, creating a hypnotic, aimless sort of dance. Although the initial motion appears to be a disorganized, chaotic mess with no discernable purpose, the rods align eventually and reveal that there was structure and meaning inherent in the seemingly arbitrary kinetics. From the mishappen shapes, emerges an isometric cube in all its geometric glory.
